DOULA services

I am absolutely delighted to be considered as your doula - to be welcomed in to your birth team is a privilege I do not take lightly! Whether you are 10 weeks or 36 - it’s never too late or too early to look for support with bringing your baby in to the world and becoming a parent. I will work with you and your birth partner throughout your pregnancy to prepare for you both for the experience of birth. We will explore your unique circumstances, focussing on your specific priorities & concerns, to make sure you feel confident, informed and ready.

DOULA-WHAT?!

There are many different interpretations of what a doula is - by both clients & doulas themselves. No two doulas are the same; the needs of every family supported will all vary; however the feeling of ‘being doula-ed’ is universal.

A doula should make you feel safe and comfortable, and if they don’t, they’re not the one for you, so keep looking!

In the lead up to your birth we’ll have at least three sessions, each lasting about 2.5 to 3 hours - these won’t be time limited, if we’re on a roll we’ll stay on a roll! Beforehand we’ll have made a plan for each of these meetings, focusing on your specific priorities and concerns and how best I can support you and your family. Your experience is unique to you and as such so is our work together. From the get go I will encourage you to drop me a line if you need to chat anything over - the more we keep in touch, the better the relationship we build.

Your Birth! I’ll be on call for you from 10 days before your due date until baby is born. This means that day or night you can get me on the phone and I will be with you as soon as possible to support you throughout your labour & birth. We will discuss how you think you might like to be supported in our antenatal sessions but this will be fluid and open to change. Nothing is set in stone with birth so we will cover all eventualities beforehand so you feel strong & confident, whichever path it takes.

The baby is here… now what?! After birth I will stay with you until you are settled; cosied up in bed with a cup of tea or a glass of fizz and something delicious on hand to refuel. This might be half an hour of blissed out baby snaps in the birth centre, or it could be a couple of hours at home, making you some lunch and entertaining your toddler while you get to grips with baby.

You will also have a 2 hour post-natal visit from me. Although we will make a plan for how I might support during this time, I will go with the flow and see what you need day by day.

let’s chat.

Before booking, we need a chance to get to know each other. Heres’s where the interview comes in. I’d highly recommend scoping out a few different doulas and seeing who you gel best with; who makes you feel safe & relaxed. There is no one size fits all - doulas come in an enormous variety with their own unique strengths. At your birth, the doula will be the keeper of your cave - making sure bad vibes are left at the door and that you and your needs are priority number one, so it is absolutely crucial you are 100% comfortable with them.

If you think I might be the right person for you then please drop me a line with a bit of information about your requirements and your due date - this allows me to check my availability. Looking forward to hearing from you and getting a coffee date in the diary (be that on zoom or in a real life cafe!).
