HYPNO-WHAT?!

Hypnobirthing is a way of preparing for birth that recognises the role that your brain plays. If that sounds a bit weird - think about it like Sports Pyschology for birth. When your brain is on-side, and you have confidence in yourself, your performance is better and more comfortable. Hypnobirthing focuses a lot on the nervous system and how we can influence our bodies natural stress responses to try to create as calm an experience as possible.

The way that I teach hypnobirthing makes it a complete toolkit for pregnant people & their birth partners (YES! Partners are involved, they are your incredible secret weapon!).

I want you to feel informed & in control; prepared for whatever route your birth may take; confident in your decision-making; setting yourself up for a positive post-natal period with your new plus-one.

Isn’t it just breathing?

Hypnobirthing is so much more than just breathing, but even if it was - the power of breathwork on both our physical & emotional state is incredible!

The mind & body are profoundly linked by the breath. Quick breath can stress us, but slow, controlled breathing can calm us, hence why it matters in birth. However, for many people, this alone is not enough. They need a full understanding of the biology of birth to feel like their bodies can do it. Or to practice affirmations to build confidence in themselves and their abilities. Or to create a safe space for themselves in their mind through visualisations. Or another technique entirely or a combination of them all. Hypnobirthing encompasses all of these elements and can help set you up for a brilliant birth experience.

So no, it’s not just breathing.

RELAXATION TRACKS

My guided relaxations are now available to download from my shop. At just £4 each they are an affordable companion for pregnancy, helping to restore calm when you feel overwhelmed and need a little grounding.

Hypnobirthing tracks really come in to their own when used regularly as they become associated by your brain with being relaxed. This means that during labour, you can use the tracks as a cue to tell your brain that you are safe, helping your body to relax and get on with birthing your baby.
